ISO 45001 is an ISO international standard for industrial health and safety management systems for worker safety. After rigorous screening, certification is granted to companies that have a systematic safety and health management system and operate accordingly.

SM Steel completed the construction of a stainless steel plate plant in Gunsan, Jeollabuk-do in June 2020, and obtained the "Integrated Environment Permit" under the Integrated Environment Management Act for the first time in Jeollabuk-do in September 2020.

Kang Young-shin, head of plate production division at SM Steel's Gunsan plant, said, "The Gunsan plant is doing its best to live up to SM Group's management ideology, which puts environmental and safety first. We are second company in steel industry to acquire integrated environmental permit, and with this ISO 45001 certification, we will be able to strengthen the trust of domestic and foreign customers who are strict in evaluating the safety and health of suppliers."
