SM Steel Acquires
Safety and Health Management System (ISO 45001) Certification
- Result of systemized
management of industrial health and safety management activities
- Active response to
the safety and health evaluation of domestic and foreign customers
SM Steel (CEO Kim Ki-ho), an
affiliate of SM Group's manufacturing division, announced on the 17th that it
has acquired the International Standard Safety and Health Management System
(ISO 45001).
ISO 45001 is an ISO international
standard for industrial health and safety management
systems for worker safety. After rigorous screening, certification is
granted to companies that have a systematic safety and health management system
and operate accordingly.
SM Steel completed the
construction of a stainless steel plate plant in Gunsan, Jeollabuk-do in June
2020, and obtained the "Integrated Environment Permit" under the
Integrated Environment Management Act for the first time in Jeollabuk-do in
September 2020.
Kang Young-shin, head of plate production division at SM Steel's Gunsan
plant, said, "The Gunsan plant is doing its best to live up to SM Group's
management ideology, which puts environmental and safety first. We are second company in steel industry to acquire integrated
environmental permit, and with this ISO 45001 certification, we will be able to
strengthen the trust of domestic and foreign customers who are strict in
evaluating the safety and health of suppliers."
